I didn't find it bleak at all! Jack's timing is somewhat odd, but I thought it was rather charming. Ianto was relaxed and comfy, not wanting an inportant talk, Jack was insistent and got his way, they talked, Ianto was accepting of Jack's revelation and very understanding, the commiserated about terrible gifts and snuggled down to sleep. Nothing bleak there!
