You articulate that so well - and I think it was just ham-fisted writing, not any great plan to make us think. We were only ever meant to gravitate towards the team and even then, we never really got the chance to know them, not properly. Every attempt was just haphazard, fill-in-the-blanks, we-need-to-kill-time episodic bullshit. Didn't stop us from falling in love with them though, and for that we can thank the actors for bringing them to life.
