Yay!

My fasting blood sugar, right around when I was diagnosed, was 146. It's not horrible, and I was only borderline. But now? Well.

I just took my blood sugar now, after eating lunch about 2.5 hours ago, and it was 114. 114!!

And I've lost at least 15lbs total so far. So hurray! I am pleased!

*Wanders off to go read some cheery fic or something*
sariagray: (DW: Ten Pensive)
Me: *In elevator*
Coworker: *Gets in elevator*
Me: Good morning!
Coworker: Oh, look, I wanna show you! *Pulls out phone and shoves it in my face. There is a giant picture of Ten on it* He's my favorite Doctor!
Other Coworker In Elevator: Oh! My son watches that show religiously! I used to watch it, decades ago!
Coworker: Did they used to have a character like Jack back then?
Me: *In my head* I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry.

Because sometimes, I feel like a Cyberman. "You are compatible. You will be upgraded. Watch Doctor Who." *Stomps away* ("Because sometimes, I feel like a Cyberman" sounds like a line in a really awesome horrible rap.)

Also, I feel like I'm turning my office into a Doctor Who convention. This is what happens, I guess. Will all the actors and writers and everyone come hang out in my office if I give them fancy badges to wear? (I totally just typed "badgers," too. Yes. Give them badgers. This will entice them!)

I am clearly insane and over-caffeinated. Don't mind me! :D

Hee!

Me: So I started drinking green tea. Oh, and now I'm eating a square of dark chocolate every night. The really dark stuff. 90%.
Coworker: That's good! You know, dark chocolate is really good for your serotonin levels.
Me: *Laughs so hard I choke*

(I was also tempted to make pterosaur noises. Whatever that entails.)

Your job is now your Time Lord name. The last digit of your phone number is the current regeneration you are in. The nearest clothing item to your right is now the most notable item in your current wardrobe. The last person you texted is your current companion. Your favorite word is now your catchphrase.

I'm the Coordinator! *Giggles madly* In my...6th regeneration. Or 8th if you count my home phone. Or 9th if you count my work number. Let's go with 6th. Apparently, the most notable item of clothing in my current wardrobe: These slippers, in black. I am a Time Lord who does more lounging than running, I guess. They're cozy![livejournal.com profile] analineblue is my companion! (And lucky, too - it was almost my coworker). I don't know what my favorite word is, though! I've been using "indubitably" a lot, lately, so let's go with that for now.

Hee! That was fun! Work, soon. Thank goodness it's a short week. :-/ Gah.

Rating: PG13
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Ianto, Mentions of the team
Things To Be Aware Of: Language, mentions of sex and infidelity, angst and fluff. Spoilers up through the end of S2, and a bit of S3 implications at the end.
Summary: 10 scenes, all with the exact same starting point.
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] analineblue <3
Author Notes: Inspired by this picture by irbisn on deviantART, which was posted by [livejournal.com profile] xrai_namere. It’s a lovely bit of artwork and I tried to get in all of the implications of the image while maintaining a vague story arch. That said, each scene could also be regarded as a standalone. (And apparently, I'm still on a "many glimpses of their relationship kick." Sorry about that!)

I don't know why it feels like it's been so long since I've updated. It hasn't been. But here I am.

I also wanted to thank you all for your prompts! I managed to write something tonight! YAY. It's been really hard to sit down and get words out; every time I do, I end up updating my food journal or researching recipes.

Speaking of - I've lost ten pounds in the past 10 days. This is Very Exciting News. The diet has been going well, too. I've not yet deviated and I'm keeping track of everything I put in my mouth. It's funny - I'm more obsessed with food now than I ever have been. Oh well. And I'm taking SO MANY vitamins. I take 6 different vitamins/supplements a day. In any case, I've been much more energetic the past couple of days. Let's hope this lasts.

And I'm having fun with it. I went on a cooking spree yesterday, so I have plenty of food to last me through the week. Three different flavor chicken breasts, sauteed kale, roasted Brussels sprouts, vegan chili, and these lentil cakes that I adapted from this recipe with stuff I had on hand. As I had lentils, kale, and sweet potatoes, though, that wasn't too hard. They came out pretty well! I think I might try them on a wrap at some point, with hummus and a bit of lettuce.

Anyway. Enough about food, even if it's all I can think about now! So. Uh. That concludes this entry? ;)

Also, go check out [livejournal.com profile] redisourcolor for the latest challenge. :D

I need to write some fic, so I'm turning to you lovely folks. :D

Post a prompt, any prompt, here! It can be as intricate or as simple as you like, with any characters. And I will maybe, possibly write it. Or I may possibly continue being blocked and also immensely lazy. I can't promise anything. :-/ But I will try, valiantly! *Brandishes snazzy sword*

And for now, I go to work. Bah.

Not that I intend for this to turn into some diet blog, but...well, I'm going to ramble a bit about food. Feel free to completely bypass this entry if the topic of food does not sound very exciting.

In Which You Find Out What I'm Eating )

So. I got free tickets to see a production of Twelfth Night through work. I went with a coworker and it was a lovely performance. Very stylized and symbolic and wonderful.

But the best part is this:

Antonio, who rescues Sebastian - I've always found their relationship to be a bit slashy. I dismissed it, though, because I tend to see slashy things everywhere, really.

Apparently the Director of this performance agreed with me. OMG. It was beautiful and tragic, which really contrasted well with the lightness of everything else. Antonio is so utterly in love with Sebastian. At the end, Sebastian goes over to Antonio, and Antonio pushes him away with this heartbroken look, and then lies on the beach looking so forlorn as everyone else pairs off. And the lights go out, except for on Antonio's face. It's the last thing we see.

I practically started crying/jumping up and down. It was such a great way to end the show, and such a powerful image. I just wanted to cuddle him. GAH.

So, yeah, that made my day. :)

Of course. Of course I'm holding a burning branch, thunderously bellowing something almost Shakespearean. ROFL.

So. In addition to everything else, I just got my test results back from the doctor. High cholesterol (which runs in the family), diabetes a strong likelihood (also runs in the family), and scarily low vitamin D (Vitamin D? What am I, ten!?) So I apparently am not allowed to eat anything with sugar or carbs, and must stick to low/no fat or cholesterol. I will be eating lettuce.

(It's really not so drastic, but...seriously? CAN I PLEASE CATCH A BREAK SOON!?)

*Stops complaining*

How is everyone else?

Author Notes: I’d like to thank [livejournal.com profile] golden_d for the [livejournal.com profile] tw_femficfest prompt, “The first time Suzie discovers Emily Dickinson.” It was a really fun character study to explore, and it let me play, which is always fun. I hope this story satisfies! I’d also like to thank [livejournal.com profile] analineblue for being the other half of my fic-brain and patiently looking this over about ten times in every incarnation, from scribbled off-hand notes to polished story. Finally, a thank you to [livejournal.com profile] queenfanfiction for reading this over and offering such wonderful encouragement and cheerleading and giving me faith in my ideas and words. Without any of you, this thing would NOT exist. Also, I’m posting now, because it’s November 1st in New Zealand and I’ve decided that I’m from there today. (And tomorrow’s going to be frightfully busy.) So don’t think you slept through Halloween or anything. And don’t hate me. **Poetry is from Emily Dickinson. Not me.**
