This is SO beautiful. And it is totally fluff--you are guilty as charged. (Self-charged, I guess? ^_~) But seriously, I love this. I love the mood and the setting and how quiet and peaceful and relaxed they both are, and what a lovely metaphor that is for the evolution of their relationship at this point. *_*
And then, of course, there were a few lines that just took my breath away~
He likes to think that, perhaps, this is like Jack’s heart, too. That his footsteps resound, echo, and leave some sort of quantifiable mark even if, as sound often does, it quickly fades away. - You know what this makes me think of? That line from Hey Jupiter. "Boy your boots will leave a mess." Which is one of my favorite lines EVER. But yes~ I just love this idea, and this image here.
And then this: It feels like he’s being smoothed inside and out, blurred and faded. - Such a perfect, lovely, poetic bit of description there, and I just love it. *__*
