I've not read Hills Like White Elephants, and I usually avoid male pregnancy like the plague... but this was great as usual. And I'm pretty sure (like eldarwannabe) that this is suitably pared down and Hemingway-esque.
PS- of course that kettle is expensive. It's Le Creuset! And I bet it's excessively heavy. I have one of their ommelette pans which I'm too poor to replace. Odd- I don't even eat eggs; I use it for frying anything.
