Whoniverse: Biracial Couples

Just a quick thought that struck me as I was on getting ready for work.
Why do biracial couples fare so terribly in the Whoniverse?
The first one I thought of was Martha and Tom. Why did she end up marrying Mickey when she was engaged to Tom? Huh.
Which obviously leads me to think of Rose and Mickey. That didn't work out, now did it?
And Martha's dad with his new girlfriend; that never pans out.
Oh! And Donna with her conniving fiancé. Poor Donna.
Torchwood takes it a step further.
First, we have Ianto and Lisa. Yep. That goes smashingly, doesn't it?
Then, as a bit of a sidebar, Beth and Mike. Stabbity-stab.
I know it's probably, ya know, not intentional. Right? But it seems so odd. What are your thoughts? Is there a successful biracial couple anywhere in the Whoniverse?

Plus, if we look at other ethnicities (is that a word?) we have Tosh's unrequited love for Owen. And Tosh's 'relationship' with Mary, and Tosh and Tommy...
All in all, not a good track record.

Did you get the other photos? I think I sent 5 by separate emails. Seems sending more than one at once doesn't work!

I'M NOT RACIST I HATE EVERYONE.
Date: 2010-11-24 03:16 pm (UTC)Now, like my subject says, I'm not racist... One of my closest friends is black, my boss is Brazilian, I've worked with a shitton of puerto ricans, my co-workers right now are Cape Verdean. *shrug* I could give a shit.. I really honeslty hate humanity as a whole, rather then particular aspects of it.
That said.. I DO agree with badly_knitted... I don't care about Gwen's "normal" relationship. If i wanted that I'd watch Friends or something. I care about the shy quite dorky ones. Cause again, I'm one of those. I was 22 before I had my first relationship. Hell, I was a virgin before that. *TMI? shrug* Its would be nice to see a show a bit more dedicated to the ones who AREN'T perfectly happy or perfectly beautiful (though I can safely say that John Barrowman and Gareth David Lloyd are two of the most beautiful people ever, GDL especially is not conventional. Really, neither is JB. You don't see them all over magazines *sad* or whatever. They are no Matt Damon *who is also hot* or whoever's gracing te cover of pop magazines.)
Oi, this is turning into a novel. I think that yes, an essay would be lovely, if I could help. :)
Ok. I should probably stop typing now, even if I have LOTS more to say. *sighs* I talk too much.

Date: 2010-11-25 06:33 am (UTC)I admit that I didn't get past season four of DW because...well, honestly, because I put my Netflix on hold. But this gives me a little bit of hope.
I also agree with the whole idea of relationships being particularly disastrous in the franchise overall. It doesn't help that everyone is so very much damaged.
