But I do. So there.

Begin Rant #1
So today was the DAY FROM HELL at work. Month end reports, year end reports, Monday/Tuesday reports, shenanigans all around. I was at work for 13 hours (and I'm STILL not done), and my only two breaks were quick runs to my former college to meet with my former professor and return the work I've been doing for him. (It felt weird to be back, but next visit will be at his house, which is much nicer.  *shrug*).

I also had to Harkness my way out of sticky situations a few times and that is much more tiring than it looks. For the record.

That said, one of my coworkers (not really - she works in the same office for the same company, but we only interact on occasion) pulls me aside and practically announces to her whole team that I look amazing and like I "came out of a fashion magazine." It is a testament to my lack of confidence that my initial thought was, "More like got kicked out of a fashion magazine." Still, I've gotten better at accepting compliments and it made me feel lots better about this wretched day.

I am, of course, spoiling my apparently wonderful look by eating McDonald's, but I didn't even leave work until 8 and had no time for the acquisition of groceries or the preparation of said groceries into anything even remotely resembling a meal. Alas, alack, and so on. And fish filet sandwiches? NOT a good substitute for fish 'n chips, but it will do!

In all, I'm relatively happy. Accomplished, at least.

Then I set up my Dreamwidth account. No, I'm not leaving LJ. I just got SO TIRED of not being able to comment on things that were just begging for my praise. And I am still sariagray, for those of you who are wondering. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted (and [livejournal.com profile] too_beauty  and [livejournal.com profile] zazajb  who also graciously offered their assistance!).

Maybe some day I will cross post. It seems too daunting at the moment, though! :)

Now, here's a fun fact.

I was spending time with [livejournal.com profile] thebuttonontop  over the weekend, as we occasionally do. Both of her roommates and a friend of her's joined us as we watched some episodes of Doctor Who. Before I left, I got to talking with one of them.

Apparently, this roommate of her's is from my town/state and graduated from my high school one year after I did. We have a bunch of mutual friends, and his best friend is my best friend's younger brother.

WEIRD!

So..."Torchwood: Above the government, beyond the police, bringing people who lived down the street from one another together!"

This is important, so I will repeat it.

Ianto Jones listens to The Smiths.

I have decided that this is so.

Aside from "Shoplifters of the World", "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out", and "Asleep", which I have already ficafied, the following songs are so for him.

The first is "Girlfriend In A Coma." Okay, so it's kind of too amusing. But who cares? It makes for an interesting, giggly take on Cyberwoman.

Then there's this. "I was looking for a job and then I found a job and Heaven knows I'm miserable now." Also, all of the other lyrics. Like, "In my life, why do I give valuable time to people who don't care if I live or die?" And "In my life, why do I smile at people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?"

Okay. This reminds me more of Jack and Gwen, but based on the song it RELATES to Ianto. Or the Doctor and Ros,e if I'm pretending they have no relationship whatever. Especially when the girl says "Oh really?" Sounds like Rose. And "Sorrow's native son"? Yes. Ten. Or Jack. Either way.

THIS SONG. JACK. YES. Eee!

"The boy with the thorn in his side; behind the hatred there lies a murderous desire for love. How can they look into my eyes and still they don't believe me?" YES.

Okay, okay. Seriously, I am about to put every song from my "The Sound of the Smiths" Deluxe Edition, so I'll stop. But c'mon! It's SO TRUE. He's got that whole wry/emo combination going for him, he grew up in the 80s, they're British and intellectual. And yes, I do think he listens to harder music, as well, but...THE SMITHS! YES. I bet Rhiannon had a crush on Morrissey. Actually, maybe Ianto did, too. The dance will do that to you if you're not careful!

Ianto Jones also listens to Bush (the band...not the former US President(s)). That will be discussed at a later date. Uhm. I hope you enjoyed this little musical exploration. What do you think Ianto Jones listens to? (And, no, Button - Blue Gillespie does NOT count lol That would cause the universe to implode or something!).

Discuss.
