But I do. So there.

Begin Rant #1
So today was the DAY FROM HELL at work. Month end reports, year end reports, Monday/Tuesday reports, shenanigans all around. I was at work for 13 hours (and I'm STILL not done), and my only two breaks were quick runs to my former college to meet with my former professor and return the work I've been doing for him. (It felt weird to be back, but next visit will be at his house, which is much nicer.  *shrug*).

I also had to Harkness my way out of sticky situations a few times and that is much more tiring than it looks. For the record.

That said, one of my coworkers (not really - she works in the same office for the same company, but we only interact on occasion) pulls me aside and practically announces to her whole team that I look amazing and like I "came out of a fashion magazine." It is a testament to my lack of confidence that my initial thought was, "More like got kicked out of a fashion magazine." Still, I've gotten better at accepting compliments and it made me feel lots better about this wretched day.

I am, of course, spoiling my apparently wonderful look by eating McDonald's, but I didn't even leave work until 8 and had no time for the acquisition of groceries or the preparation of said groceries into anything even remotely resembling a meal. Alas, alack, and so on. And fish filet sandwiches? NOT a good substitute for fish 'n chips, but it will do!

In all, I'm relatively happy. Accomplished, at least.

Then I set up my Dreamwidth account. No, I'm not leaving LJ. I just got SO TIRED of not being able to comment on things that were just begging for my praise. And I am still sariagray, for those of you who are wondering. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted (and [livejournal.com profile] too_beauty  and [livejournal.com profile] zazajb  who also graciously offered their assistance!).

Maybe some day I will cross post. It seems too daunting at the moment, though! :)

Now, here's a fun fact.

I was spending time with [livejournal.com profile] thebuttonontop  over the weekend, as we occasionally do. Both of her roommates and a friend of her's joined us as we watched some episodes of Doctor Who. Before I left, I got to talking with one of them.

Apparently, this roommate of her's is from my town/state and graduated from my high school one year after I did. We have a bunch of mutual friends, and his best friend is my best friend's younger brother.

WEIRD!

So..."Torchwood: Above the government, beyond the police, bringing people who lived down the street from one another together!"

This is important, so I will repeat it.

Ianto Jones listens to The Smiths.

I have decided that this is so.

Aside from "Shoplifters of the World", "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out", and "Asleep", which I have already ficafied, the following songs are so for him.

The first is "Girlfriend In A Coma." Okay, so it's kind of too amusing. But who cares? It makes for an interesting, giggly take on Cyberwoman.

Then there's this. "I was looking for a job and then I found a job and Heaven knows I'm miserable now." Also, all of the other lyrics. Like, "In my life, why do I give valuable time to people who don't care if I live or die?" And "In my life, why do I smile at people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?"

Okay. This reminds me more of Jack and Gwen, but based on the song it RELATES to Ianto. Or the Doctor and Ros,e if I'm pretending they have no relationship whatever. Especially when the girl says "Oh really?" Sounds like Rose. And "Sorrow's native son"? Yes. Ten. Or Jack. Either way.

THIS SONG. JACK. YES. Eee!

"The boy with the thorn in his side; behind the hatred there lies a murderous desire for love. How can they look into my eyes and still they don't believe me?" YES.

Okay, okay. Seriously, I am about to put every song from my "The Sound of the Smiths" Deluxe Edition, so I'll stop. But c'mon! It's SO TRUE. He's got that whole wry/emo combination going for him, he grew up in the 80s, they're British and intellectual. And yes, I do think he listens to harder music, as well, but...THE SMITHS! YES. I bet Rhiannon had a crush on Morrissey. Actually, maybe Ianto did, too. The dance will do that to you if you're not careful!

Ianto Jones also listens to Bush (the band...not the former US President(s)). That will be discussed at a later date. Uhm. I hope you enjoyed this little musical exploration. What do you think Ianto Jones listens to? (And, no, Button - Blue Gillespie does NOT count lol That would cause the universe to implode or something!).

Discuss.

Rant 1. oh honey! i'm sorry! *hugs* ... totally done the 13 hour thing. it sucks. hope tomorrow is better?

Rant 2. thats a great idea. I think I need a dreamwidth acct.

Rant 3. lol. and he hasn't stopped talking about it yet. :)

Rant 4. Gillespie. Duh. haven't you read anyone's stories? lol. seriously though. I would say a mix of alot of things.. honestly, I can see him listening to alot of classical music, jazz, blues. things like that. probably not much in the way of rap or country or metal or any of that.. maybe 90's alternative or some pop typed things.. since he'd be in his teens then. (he's my age, just trying to think of what someone my age would listen to. course, i'm also not too up on "common Welsh music" It's really really weird to think that he's my age though. Damn.) hmm yeah.

Rant 5. I just have to point something out here. just a tiny little thing.... YOU'RE COUNTING AGAIN!!!!! lol. yep. and .... *points to the number* i've added one. YOUR TURN. *hugs and runs* don't kill me! lol

1. Ehhhh...it's looking slightly better, in that I won't have to drive back and forth throughout CT all day. :)

2. Yes, I think you do. GO! Acquire a code.

3. YAY! Because I haven't either. It's so...bizarre! These things, they don't happen in real life. Unless Torchwood is involved.

4. BWAHAHA. So...Ianto Jones stole my CD collection, basically? lol Also - yeah, just the other day I was like "Holy crap, if I were Ianto, I would be starting at Torchwood now." And then I thought about my job and wanted to cry lol!

5. I am, aren't I? Damn. How do I always do this?

6. I had a strange dream last night. In it, I had a car. It was my car, and then partway through the dream it turned black and got some sort of crazy upgrade. Then I hid in it while my dad went into a store, at which point I became Ianto and/or Owen and/or Saria (I kept switching back and forth - like the three of us were there, but I would be in the brains of everyone). The store was subsequently held up at gunpoint and somehow me and the two of them stopped it. But then the police thought that THEY were the one's who did it. SO Ianto and Owen went willingly, and when I was in their heads, they were both thinking along the lines of being remembered, and how they were grateful for it even if it was for something bad. BUT WAIT. As I was in Ianto's head, Ianto woke up and was like, I dunno, 1000 kinds of adorable...he was in Jack's bed but Jack was asleep, so he got up to cuddle with Gwen who was in some other room (?). When she saw him, she was all like "You had that dream where you got arrested again?" and she put down the book she was reading and they...yeah. Cuddled. And then my alarm went off. And I was confused. What the hell does this mean!?

OMG I completely agree with The Smiths thing. XDDDD And now... I want to listen to The Smiths. Aaand I can't, because I'm at work, but I know most those songs anyway, so... Yeah, I agree. =D

And you know, I have the same issue with Dreamwidth, with wanting to comment on things and not feeling like bothering with Open ID, and for months now I've been wondering if I should just start up one. Hrm. >_>

I hope your workday is better (and shorter! O_O) today. *hugs* <3

YAY! I got agreement! I listen to my iPod at work and had a freak-out/flail moment that left my coworkers rather confused. Squealing "Ianto! The Smiths!" didn't really help matters much (hey! I was under a lot of pressure! Lol)

I'm going to try to play with Dreamwidth tonight, see what it does. I just got so fed up with the lack of ability to comment, especially when authors disable the Open I'd option. You should join!

I should be getting out on time today! I am so excited! Woohoo for a normal shift! :)

I know this is probably a random question, but... If you don't mind my asking~ What do you do? In my mind, it's vaguely office-y, but... Yeah, I'm just curious. ^_~ (I work at in an administrative office at a university, where I sadly don't listen to my ipod. But I'm thinking about starting, because I'm getting really tired of silence all day... @_@)

Anyway~ Yeah, you totally called it with the Smiths. ;) And I'm really hoping that some song fics come out of that discovery? =D

I'm thinking more and more about Dreamwidth... >_> It always takes me forever to add...another thing to my lists of things to check, I guess? XD; (I got Facebook years after everyone else. And I still don't have Twitter. *sighs* :P) But yeah, we'll see. ^_~

Yay for normal shifts~ :D

Haha Yes, office-y is correct. I work for an international non-profit that aids children in need. I do data-y management things and analysis. It's fun. And that normal hours bit went out the window - the whole week is going to be overtime (that I don't get paid for! Boo!)

As for songfic, I already did one for the Smiths, but I might do more. I'm really bad with songfic!

I still don't have a Twitter, either. Well, I DID but I never use it so I gave up. It's not really worth it. And I still haven't used my Dreamwidth yet. I will...eventually. :)

That sounds pretty fun, actually! :D When they're not making you work insane overtime, that is. ^_~

And hmm, I don't remember that fic! Was is recent? *thinks* Maybe I'm just crazy and I did read it? I have a horrible memory sometimes. XD;; I have a hard time with songfic too. It's like... I'm fine if I'm just focusing on one line, or something, but trying to incorporate more than that is a challenge, for me. @_@

I keep thinking I should get Twitter not so much to post anything myself, but to follow people I find entertaining? Aaand then I end up forgetting about the whole thing until someone mentions it again. :P

It is fun, actually. And I love my job. I do. They aren't making me, either; I'm just a dumb overachiever, I guess? lol After this week, it should be...relatively normal, I hope.

It is recent - it's in my Master List *Points to right* Called "Oscillate Wildly" but...it's...dark. I was in a mood when I wrote it.

That's why I signed up, too, but I kept forgetting to check. *Sigh* :)
