I'm Going Back To Bed Now....

Oh my God....
Okay. What?
About a year ago, my professor told me about Torchwood. And, at the time, I had it confused with Deadwood. Which is a show about cowboys. And, as all he told me was that I'd like this show, I brushed it off. I didn't WANT to watch a show about cowboys. And then I finally saw Torchwood and my initial response was, "Oooooh. Yes. Got it. Well done."
And then this evening....
I was playing around on Yahoo, looking at some random, uninteresting things when I saw a link for this movie: Cowboys and Aliens.
Apparently, I was psychic in my confusion about Deadwood/Torchwood. But wait! Read this here synopsis:
1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde. It's a town that lives in fear.
But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.
Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella, he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents, townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors - all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who, upon reading this, went, "Jack!?" (look at the poster thingy; I swore it was a Vortex Manipulator at first) and then "Or, wait! Timelord! With a chameleon arch! TIMELORD IANTO!"
It's like this synopsis is a game of charades, and I'm trying to figure out what's being conveyed. Or, worse, like a really bad game of Six Degrees.
To top it off: Damon Lindeloff. Olivia Wilde. HARRISON FORD. DANIEL CRAIG! It's like, everything I've thought to cross Torchwood with. Lost, House, Bond, Star Wars...my mind is...just...not working....
I...I just...I don't know. WHAT!? Just please tell me there are Blowfish. Please.
