Questions asked by [livejournal.com profile] analineblue.

1. If you could be any age again for one week, what age would you be?

This is a tough one. I think 17, though. As difficult a time as it was, I had the perfect balance of liberty and responsibility. I was relatively unburdened and times were good. It was a nice age to be!

2. What's one thing that always inspires you?

Music. Without a shadow of a doubt. All kinds, too. It's music and lyrics; some purely instrumental pieces touch and inspire me more than lyrics.

3. Do you cook?

I do! I absolutely love to cook, and I'm a fair hand at it (so I'm told, anyway...). Although I tackle it in much the same way as any other creative endeavor - I get a fixation, and I go for it. And when I do it, I base it off of intuition rather than technicality.

4. Describe something that's happened to you for which you have no explanation.

This...I mean, there's a technical explanation. But. Okay. I have never sleep walked before. EVER. But one time when I was little, I was sleep-playing with a doll house and crying. I don't remember any of this, except there is a picture of me somewhere in my house. Because my mom heard music and came upstairs and saw me. I don't know what music she was hearing. Neither does she. I don't know that this counts, but it still kind of freaks me out.

5. Which fandoms have you written for other than Torchwood?

Well. When I was in 4th grade, I wrote NSYNC fan fiction and passed out chapters to my classmates every week. Yep. Enough said about THAT! And then in high school, I dabbled a bit with Pirates of the Caribbean fan fiction. It...it isn't very good. And it's still on FF.net somewhere. Hopefully buried. :-/ Torchwood is the first fandom in which I've ever really invested. And I SWORE to myself when I started watching the show that I wouldn't. Yet here I am.

Go ahead and get me to ask you some questions!

I know what you mean! It's weird to me, because I remember when I started watching it, and getting ideas, I was thinking to myself that surely the fandom wasn't still going, as far as new ideas and all of that, and I was totally wrong. In part, I think, because so many other people were also discovering it at the same time? It's totally weird though, I agree. ;)

I think I work best in moods too. And moments. *nod* Anything more than that, and I start to think too much, lol. It's weird too, because I started out writing much longer stuff. The first (really horrible) fanfic I wrote was this epic, 200 page thing. XD;; But even then, I didn't really have a plot? XD;; And now, all my ideas seem to be compressed into about 2-3K words. >_>

Anyway. :P Yes, I know what you mean about TW having infinite possibilities. *__* I tend to be intimidated by time lines, so I probably don't use all the possibilities as much as I should, but... You're right, there's just so much there. And that, in addition to knowing that you're writing for people who are interested and want to see these characters interacting already is such a boost, inspiration-wise. *__*

And you know, I'm really glad I'm not the only one who needs prompts in order to get anything done anymore. XD;; I think I like them because it takes some of the pressure off, and gives me an "excuse" to write something. Otherwise I tend to sit there thinking "I'm sure this has been done; what's the point of writing THAT," etc. ;)

...And dammit, now I want to write something! >_>

:D

While it may have been done before, I've found that no one fic has been...the same. Or at least, of the bajillion that I've read. Maybe the overarching theme is the same, but there's something about each one that strikes me as...different.

I have to say, you certainly do moods and moments well! :) I'm always envious of authors who can get out something really plotty and wonderful, because I just...can't.

I want to write something, too. I've been plugging away at the next LAS challenge, but I've finished it. Oh, I know. *evil smirk* And I think it's kind of indicative of how we write versus...plot. If Jack is plotty and Ianto is moody? I don't know. Makes sense in my head?

Oh God. Here comes commentfic. Look out.

The Possibilities Are Endless

Jack waved the small, round device in front of Ianto's face and beamed.

"I haven't seen one of these since I was a kid!" he exclaimed.

Ianto sighed. "Put it down. I'm almost done cataloging it."

Frowning, Jack rested the object back on the tabletop. He shoved his hands in his pockets and leaned back against the workstation. He watched for a few moments as Ianto glanced down at the piece of nondescript metal and typed in a handful of notes.

"But," Jack finally interrupted the silence, "think of where we could go!"

"Go?" Ianto didn't bother to tear his eyes away from the monitor.

"We could go to...Morocco! Or we could travel in time. We could go visit Henry VIII. You'd look hot in a doublet and tights. I could teach you this dance that -"

"Jack...."

"Okay, okay. Not that. But we could travel to the future! The 27th century is pretty nice, though I didn't visit Wales. I wonder if the expansion of the sun makes the weather any -"

"Jack."

"Right. Why would you want to stay in Wales? We could travel off planet, though! There are so many planets you'd love. There's a drink on Colome Guaja that I swear could rival your coffee, although the indecency laws are a bit harsh. You'd probably be fine with what you're -"

"Jack!"

Jack frowned and looked over at Ianto. "What?"

"It's already eleven. Can we - can we go to bed?"

Jack's face blanked for a moment and then he broke into a wide grin. "Yeah. Yeah, we can do that."

The End

Okay. That was kind of crap. But I think you get the idea. :)

You know, that's an excellent, excellent point. And I agree. :D I feel like there's much less repetition here than in other fandoms. Sometimes I wonder if it's just that I love them so much that I don't mind reading the same sorts of things over and over? But I really don't think that's it. I really think there IS a lot of variety and a lot of different and interesting ways that people see the characters, which makes for just... a lot of possibilities.

I'm totally envious of people who can do plot, too. XD;; I get overwhelmed by the details, I think?

AND OMG, you're totally right. It's plotty vs. moody, for sure! Is there any question as to why nearly every single thing I write is from Ianto's POV? Probably not, knowing this. XD;;;

And okay, here's my take on it. ;)

The Possibilities Are Endless, Part II

Ianto glares at Jack in the darkness.

He just won't stop rambling. The device does this, could take us here, we could do such-and-such, ad nauseum. And all Ianto wanted to do was to have a nice quiet evening. Possibly with some actual sleep thrown in.

"Do you ever shut up?" he asks Jack, wearily.

"I'm just saying, there's a big, giant UNIVERSE out there waiting for us! You should think about it, sometime!"

"I do think about it, Jack," Ianto deadpans. "I think about it, and then I think a little more, and I realize that if I don't want to end up dead, or just...something else equally horrible, I should probably, you know, just get some sleep, instead."

Jack sighs, and kicks at Ianto's ankle under the covers.

"Maybe someday?"

"Yes, fine. Maybe someday." When hell freezes over, he's thinking, because really... Jack's body is so warm next to him--he honestly can't think of any place he'd rather be than here.

He's also pretty sure Jack's had enough adventure, especially adventure involving questionable alien devices, for the both of them.

...And that was total crap, but... You can see that I like this theory a lot, yes? :D

This is awesome! It is NOT crap! I vote that we need to collaborate on something. It works so well with what I wrote! :-D And I like this theme lots, too. :-D

*hugs* Well, yours definitely wasn't crap either! ;) AND YES! I will put in my vote for that too~ :D

I just wish I had more ideas... *__*

:) Thanks!!

I know. I need...a prompt, or something. I'm going to try to force myself to write tomorrow. Oh, and you seem to have had a very good idea today? I loved what you posted!

I just tried using a prompt generator. It made my head hurt :-/ Something about carrots?

Collaboration will happen, though, if you're in. :) Ideas...they will come. I just need a "Field of Dreams" moment with some prompts lol

Well, I actually started that fic I posted yesterday about a week ago, and just finished it UP yesterday, so... It doesn't really count. ;) I still have no new ideas. >_>

And man, I've tried to use prompt generators before, and it never works. >_> They're always...either too specific, or too random, or...something. Carrots though, hrm... *wheels turning* :P

But yeah, I seriously think we could do something really fun together! <3 ...But at the same time, I've never really collaborated on anything before, so I don't really know how it works? XD; But I'm sure we could figure something out. ;) I kind of like the mystery involved in one of us starting something, and then the other continuing it though? And so on and so forth? *_*

Anyway. :P [/stops rambling] :P

I like this idea a lot, the back and forth. Jen and I have done this with some success. Aside from that, though, I've never collaborated, either. It will be a learning experience for all!

And by all, I mean us.

I do suggest that there should be smoking!Ianto.

And never stop rambling! I'm about to go out to dinner, but we should plan to plan this fic that we are planning to plan.

Do you have my email?

I don't think I have your email. Mine's just analineblue@gmail though, so feel free! :D

Because yes...a plan to plan this plan...should be planned. I agree. XD (And I'm actually going out too, but... Yeah, email me. :D I like the idea of smoking!Ianto... *__* OOH. I just thought of something, lol. A little epilogue-type thing I had in my mind for the last fic I posted, wherein Jack gives Ianto a pack of cigarettes for... well, because he likes the idea of him smoking, and is completely inappropriate, you know? ;) And... I don't know. Just throwing that out there. No idea where that would go, but... :P)

*coughs* @_@

I never stop rambling, see? 8D
