The following scene is from my favorite movie, Velvet Goldmine. These dolls represent Brian Slade and Curt Wild. A couple of seconds before this part in the video shows, essentially, the legs of two Catholic schoolgirls in a very girly bedroom, with snips of fabric and sequins and paraphernalia strewn about the carpet.

The video quality is a bit lacking, but it's the only one I could find.

Also, I want those dolls.

In other news, made it to VA and back with [livejournal.com profile] thebuttonontop (who also made it there and back again). She has a Cardis now, which I am sure she will tell you all about. We had walkie talkies on the way back which was amusing. We wished we had our Bluetooth headsets, though, so that we could do phone fingers.

I hate the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (of doom). If you are unfamiliar with this torture device, here. Have a link: http://www.cbbt.com/. You see, it starts as a really long, low bridge. Then you descend into the water, in a tunnel. Then you come out onto a bridge again. Then you go back into a tunnel. And so on. for like, 17 miles!

It IS a cool feat of engineering. However, my father used to tell me about bridges that collapsed when I was a child WHILE WE WERE DRIVING OVER THE BRIDGE. "And the Mianus River Bridge, this one? It collapsed in 1983...." And then he would tell me how when you fall into the water, the pressure messes with the windows and you don't know which way is up or down and so on and so forth. So now I have a phobia of bridges and tunnels already scare the shit out of me. I don't mind enclosed spaces. I do mind driving in enclosed spaces where I have no alternate means of escape.

The CBBT also has a restaurant in the middle. We ate lunch there. It was decent (and didn't bother me at all, probably because I wasn't in a car). But the "sharp right" at the end of the second tunnel is more of a "u-turn doing 50 miles and if you aren't careful, you'll end up in the bay." That was a bit terrifying.

It was SO WARM there, too. Really lovely. And everything is cheaper. I got a carton of cigarettes for less than $35 which here would have cost me $70 at least here in CT. And Sweet Tea. Oh, I love my Sweet Tea. As much as I'm a New England girl at heart, through and through, I really can see myself in Virginia. My mom was born there, so I think I have an in. And vanity plates are also cheap: I can get my "Dorian" or my "Tardis" plate!

I played COD, too. Black Ops. I suck, but it was fun. I want to make a Torchwood video game where you can pick which character you want to be and like, things happen based on the character you pick and whatnot. In my dreams, I know. But still. *Sigh*

We also meet up with [livejournal.com profile] usakiwigirl  at Starbucks and had a lovely chat. I hope to see her again before she disappears! At least we still have our skin. :) She is wonderful. *Hugs* She even showed us the way to Target. :)

So yes, a very lovely trip. I think I am an endurance driver - this trip was much less taxing than Chicago, but still. And now I need to catch up with my reading/writing and...laundry. *Groan*

I love sweet tea. *__* I didn't even know it existed until about 3 years ago, when I discovered it while visiting a friend in Louisiana, and I've been completely in love ever since~ ;)

And that tunnel would freak me out, too. In fact, I think it has before... I'm pretty sure I've been there a few times when I was a kid (we used to go out that way for summer vacation things) :D

Anyway~ Welcome back! ^_~

Sweet Tea is just so wonderful! I'm glad I'm not alone in the freaking out department, either. It appears Jen (who bounced excitedly around the car like a hybrid puppy-meerkat as I white-knuckled my way across) does not share this thing. I thought maybe I was a bit crazy. :)

It's good to be back, though. Except the doing laundry part. :-D

*Grumbles* I know. Imma stick you in a room full of spiders. Except that would require me to acquire spiders, and I don't really want to do that....lol
