Some Words of Me?

If you want to play, request your words and I will find some that remind me of you. Somewhere. And then you have to tell me what they mean to you.

Zelda
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was the first game I played on our brand new N64. I LOVED that game so very, very much. Now, I'm not much of a gamer anymore, but at the time, I spent hours and hours just riding around on that damn horse. On top of that, I later died my hair green and was therefore forever known as Saria. I get all nostalgic when I hear the music, too.
What would I do without fan fiction? Seriously. I wrote my first fan fiction story in 4th grade (so...9?). It was NSYNC-centric and...totally Mary Sue-ish. I would write a chapter a day (or week?) and insert my friends and myself. I would read it to my mom (my original beta!) and then pass around the chapters in class. The WHOLE class. Yes.
WHY DO I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH?

"Zelda" also makes me think of Zelda Fitzgerald, which makes me think of F Scott, who was/is a huge influence on my writing life.
Music
I am in love with music. It is one of the few things that simply drives my life, my creativity, my passions....I have soundtracks for everything and everything has a soundtrack. One of my favorite things to do is set my iPod on shuffle and...go. My tastes range and so one minute I'll be listening to Tchaikovsky, then George Thorogood, Chumbawamba, Tori Amos, Silverchair, Metallica, the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, the Streets, Yo Yo Ma, and finally, Tool (or, at least, that's what came up just now). Sometimes, my music collection makes me think that I might be slightly unstable, but whatever.
I really enjoy melodic things, and the more clever the lyrics, the better (which is why I love Fall Out Boy and Jason Mraz as much as I love Rufus Wainwright and Modest Mouse).
But the vast majority of my collection, truly, is instrumental. Right now, I have a lot of classical and movie/television scores on my iPod. My favorite soundtrack is still Requiem for a Dream. Firefly and The Tudors tie for second.
Fanfiction
What would I do without fan fiction? Seriously. I wrote my first fan fiction story in 4th grade (so...9?). It was NSYNC-centric and...totally Mary Sue-ish. I stopped until I was 16/17. Then it was Pirates of the Caribbean. It's still on ff.net, if anyone's interested and wants to laugh at me? I think my name was DorianElizabeth. I haven't looked at it since I wrote it a bajillion years ago (or...8 years. Whichever). So I'm betting it's crap. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/507283/DorianElizabeth
Okay. I just looked. And I wrote songfic to Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah. Not much as actually changed, come to think of it. Damn. So much for growing as an author. And, while the style is different, I feel like I was writing about Jack and Ianto before either Jack or Ianto even existed. Ha! And there is a vague shade of angst. Help. I am stuck in a rut.
In any case, I stopped again and got a girlfriend. And then I lost the girlfriend and Torchwood happened. And all hell broke loose.
But everyone supports my fan fiction proclivities. Probably more than my actual original works. ;)
Torchwood
Oh, speaking of.... ;)
WHY DO I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH?
No, it's not even that. I love so many shows so much more, but this show? It gets under your skin and doesn't let go. As I was watching it, I was going through a tough time relationship-wise. And somehow, this made me feel so much better. I think it was because I identified with Ianto so much (yay, codependency!) and saw my ex as Lisa (and Canary Wharf = Law School) and just kept looking at Jack and Ianto and thinking, "I want that."
But who knows, really, why this is my favorite thing ever. I certainly have yet to figure it out.
My (former) boss once asked me what it was about the show that made me so giddy-happy and obsessive. I didn't have an answer for him then and I still don't. It was something that my mind just latched onto. And maybe it's because I see a little of myself in each of the characters in a way that I don't on other shows. And that's pretty cool. It just feels...accessible.
Or maybe it's just because I secretly want a pet pteranodon.
Children
I save them. Regularly. I would like to have many. I think I would be a good mother. Other than that, I've got nothing.
