This is what I look like at 7:30am, in my car, in the parking garage at work, as of last Thursday. Not that I changed too much in a few days, I hope? My head looks WEIRD. Like it's not attached to my body.

The Archers is confusing. I'm sure it makes sense if you've been following it. But...why are they making trolls and goats? Oh well. It keeps cutting in and out, though, which is unfortunate and making me nervous.

Okay, I liked this one a lot better. I liked the tidbits of remembrance, of the past, of what we know.

So, basically, the play starts with Gwen shouting about Grandmas (again - it's a theme) during the chasing of Random Alien that requires a plasma canon (and I bet this is not the first time that Jack has shouted, "Give me the plasma canon!"). They shoot it and it demolishes part of the Severn Bridge (thus compounding my phobia of bridges). Luckily, it gets fixed in time for Rex Matheson to pay a toll. When they fall into the water, miraculously alive, they hear a whale alien call. And so does everyone whose head is under water at the time.

Jack announces that "there is something in the water." Dun-nun. Dun-nun. Dun-nun. Dununununun. <-- This is the Jaws theme, if you couldn't tell.

Magically, they teleport back to the Hub. Jack says its alien. Ianto technobabbles sexily (BABBLE AT ME SOME MORE, BABY). Jack keeps insisting that it's alien, and we believe him, so it's entirely unnecessary. Gwen asks if Jack has a submarine in his pocket. Ianto speaks for the audience: "Gwen, you can’t set him up like that!"

Then Ianto calls a former lover from Torchwood One. AHA! I am now convinced that Ianto was the Owen-equivalent of Torchwood One.

Jack mentioned the Doctor 57 times and was therefore able to work with UNIT on this whale of a mystery (I crack myself up). I imagine Jack creeping into the bathroom in the middle of the night and saying "Doctor Doctor Doctor" in the mirror.

They are on the Octopus Rock and I am PLEASED beyond belief to announce that Gwen and I got the reference at the same time. "Submission" by the Sex Pistols! Like the title of the radio play! Have some lyrics. Also, Jack is not allowed to talk about his sex pistol. I am disappointed, as I would have loved to hear about it.

There are five hours of "sleeping" that were not in this radio play. I expect much fic.

A lot of talk then happens about Marine Biology and I tuned out because really, whatever. It's an ocean and there are things in it. Pressure, blah blah blah. Animals, blah blah blah. Gwen notices that it's pitch black. Did she think that there was a sun in the ocean? Maybe that the sun, when it sets, goes into the ocean and lights it up?

There are some strange noises of attack. Then they see "The Old Man At The Bottom Of The Sea," which is Hemingway's unwritten sequel.

At some point, Carly freaks about dying. So Gwen tries to comfort her by saying, "Everyone in Torchwood One died. But this is Torchwood Three." I don't think she realizes that this is NOT reassuring at ALL.

Some stuff happens and the Submarine that they're in is compromised? And then Gwen decides to use compassion, gives it up, and decides once more on compassion. So she and Jack get in their magical suits of Not Dying and go investigate.

Ianto tells Gwen to be careful, and then tells Jack, too. Which is sweet, because Jack basically says, "BRB" and Ianto is all, "You better. Sir." D'awww!

So Gwen talks to the alien/human thingy. And he has "company in the dark," which I at first thought/hoped would be Suzie. But apparently, it isn't.

There is a lovely parallel to Jack and Ianto when the alien talks about how he'd "do anything" to save his mate and how, essentially, he's lost without him. Okay. Maybe it's not an ACTUAL parallel, but shut up. I will take what I can get.

Also - Gwen is a cupcake. OMNOMNOM.

This pairing allows time for Carly and Ianto to have a heart-to-heart that made me all weepy. Unlike the Martha heart-to-heart. Carly basically asks, "So...you and Jack?" to which Ianto replies, "Is it that obvious?" And apparently, they keep making eyes at each other. And there was some groping. And basically, Ianto admits his love for Jack and his complete understanding that Jack will have to move on after him, and it's so sweet and honest and I love it, even if it's a bit heartbreaking. Lisa was mentioned, too. YAY!

Then there's some other stuff. And, by-the-by, Microsoft Word recognizes "Guernica," which makes me happy. Yay Word!

I don't know what's going on for a while. They get in the Guernica, somehow? And then Carly is possessed by the alien! Which is inevitable, because she presumably slept with Ianto. And the alien!Carly tries to possess Gwen. It feeds off memories, you see, and Gwen's are the sweetest, made of candyfloss and toffee and other sweet things.

Then there's random evil villain talk, Gwen fights, Ianto is all protective of her (more than Jack, which is fucking weird, but awesome), and then. Oh, then the alien is all, "Oh, Gwen's memories! OF JACK! Ianto, aren't you worried that Jack loves her more than you?" And Jack says: "Don't listen to it!" And Ianto's basically, "Pshaw, AS IF." <--Not really.

But then...Jack has to kill Carly because...well, evil alien possession. And Ianto is all "No, we can save her!" And Jack's like, "Yeah, right. Except NO WE CAN'T." So Jack turns into Batman and tells the evil alien, "I am the face you see before you die." No, really. It happened.

So. Carly is presumably dead. Jack tells him to leave it, it's done. And Ianto says, "You don't know that!" and "Stop killing all of my girlfriends! I'm already sleeping with you! It isn't necessary anymore!" Okay, not that last part. But the "You don't know that" was totally in there!

Then Ianto saves her, and there is ridiculous foreshadowing (aftershadowing?) of Ianto dying and Jack's mortality, and all that stuff we already know!

So, in all, yes. Good. I liked it more than yesterday's.

In other news, I am preparing to see A Perfect Circle tonight. As NO ONE seems to know who they are, here:

A Perfect Circle is an American rock supergroup formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan. The original incarnation of the band also included Paz Lenchantin on bass, Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, and Tim Alexander on drums. The latest line-up features Puscifer and Ashes Divide live bassist Matt McJunkins, former guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha; and session drummer Josh Freese, who is best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Devo, and The Vandals. Despite having a varied cast since inception, the stylistic content of the songs has remained consistent with Howerdel as composer, and Keenan penning the lyrics.

And have some music, yeah?

Clearly not for everyone, I know. But I love them so very much. And, in less than a month, I get to see them AGAIN. YES. In any case, my friend and I have got a really cheap motel in the suburbs of Boston so that we don't have to drive a gazillion hours back. This should be fun. She's picking me up in...half an hour?

Songs I want them to play: Passive, Counting Bodies Like Sheep (or Pet), Magdalena, Orestes, Thinking of You, The Package, The Nurse Who Loved Me, Gravity.

*Flails* I can't believe I'm going! I've been waiting since forever! Or, you know, whenever I bought the tickets? Which would be April. Three months, apparently, is forever. Shut up! I'm so tingly-excited!

See my own review (if you have time) on my thoughts on Gwen's attempt at being comforting by drawing parallels between One and Three. Herp-a-derp, Gwen.

Also. You are gorgeous! I love your glasses!

And also - I got all weepy at that stuff between Ianto and Carlie... sobbing. Nice to hear Ianto admit it without being on death's doorstep.

I did see your review! I loved it! It is full of the hilarity that was this episode. "No, no, TW3 is NOTHING like TW1! Ignore the dead bodies scattered about the Plass, please." Okay, they weren't at the Plass, but still.

*Blush* Thank you! My glasses love you back! Er. Well. Yes. Gwen is a cupcake.

I know! Ianto! Oh, we knew, Ianto, we knew. But you said it. You have been elevated from "Dabbling?! WTF!?" status and we are proud.

This was better than yesterday. Gwen clearly has a thing about old people. (Ironic given her thing for Jack.) Jack is possessive! Weirdly. Ianto is ... Oh Ianto. Never change.

Gwen is hilarious with old people. Compassionate my ass. :D And I love possessive!Jack, even if it is weirdly possessive. And Ianto is still my favorite person ever. Much better than yesterday, I agree. I hope tomorrow's is at least equally as good.

Geek Chic, baby! You rock! So fun to put faces to IDs. :)

So, apparently, Ianto has had the "I'll die before Jack" conversation with everyone BUT Jack. See, he never should have discussed it with Jack, and he'd still be alive today. *sigh*

And, oh, Gwen? NOT all of TW1 died, because you work with one and are making that statement to another one. :)

I think some of the awkward/obvious dialogue was less character driven and more attempts at setting the scene for radio viewers. People will know just how deep down they really are if the characters can't see light. But there are ways of phrasing it that wouldn't make people look like morons, ya know? :)

Yeah, it was far better than yesterday, right? Your review cracked me up, I absolutely the idea of Ianto being the big womanizer of TW1. Where are the fics?! Jack being possessive was adorable and Ianto admitting his love for him made me go 'Aww!'.

Would have been great as an actual ep, though (I want to see Jack & Ianto making eyes at each other, and being all obvious!)

You are gorgeous. Love the glasses. :D

WE BOTH LOLED AT THE SAME THINGS. LOLOLOLOL.

Wasn't this one THE BEST? I'm at work and I'm still squeeing and flailing a little bit.

Oh, and apparently Ianto wasn't playing field of TW1, because his love was ~unrequited~ because he went after Lisa instead. BUT WE KNOW HE COULD HAVE IF HE WANTED TO.

This episode I want. Like, now.
