I am so confused about the finale of Doctor Who. SO CONFUSED. I don't even know what's going on anymore. I miss things like, you know, the other season finales. Not that I didn't enjoy this, because I did, but...yeah.

The Doctor: Helping Rose Tyler with her homework and going to all of Jack's stag parties in one night. (That's the answer to The Question, I bet. The Question isn't actually "Doctor who?" but "Doctor where?" and/or "when?") Seriously, that was the best line ever. I'm not even a huge fan of Jack's, but one of my biggest criticisms of Moffat's Who is the serious lack of "previous companions." It makes me almost angry that Amy doesn't know who Rose or Martha or Donna or Jack are. At least, as far as we know. In RTD-era Who, ALL of the companions met each other at some point, and were talked about, so it added a level of familiarity even when being introduced to new companions or regenerations. And didn't we get rid of The Silence in '69? And nothing makes sense anymore, really.

But LOL to War of the Roses sandwich board. Seriously. I was all Richard III flaily about it.

In other news, OMG, you guys, in less than two weeks I will be FLYING. For the first time! Well, not quite. I've flown in single-engine Cessna planes, and even a WWI bright red open-cockpit biplane, but not a jet. (Because I like to be different, okay?!) Not across the country, either. For a weekend (because I take many an impossible weekend trip). I AM SO EXCITED. Because I get to finally meet [livejournal.com profile] analineblue! And she will no longer be a person who exists solely on LJ and Facebook and my email. *Flails*

So that's an exciting thing! I've never been further west than, er...Chicago. Apparently, I have an "Annual Autumn Fandom Sojourn" thing happening, or something. The only downfall is that James Marsters will be approximately an hour from my house, and I will be across the country. Darn.

I'm also reading! Like, a real book? Which I haven't done in ages. I've picked up a copy of The Mermaid Chair. It's interesting so far! I like it. It has given me an undeniable craving to head to Mystic, though, so I might have to do that at some point! Like...tomorrow. If I can find someone to drag along, I may do this. I missed going there this summer.

And that...is that!

The DW finale was...weird. I can't even write up a coherent reaction post cos I have no bloody idea what the hell actually took place. Series 6 has confused me to death. I need a re-watch...

I'm glad I'm not alone in my confusion! I honestly thought that AGMGTW/Demons Run was a much better "Finale." In terms of...finale things.

I had to watch it twice to get a basic understanding of what was going on. The first time through, I had no bloody idea!

I also loved the throwaway line about Rose and Jack. I think I might have been the only one in the family to catch it the first time through. Could be because I understand the accents! I always end up repeating lines, especially for my hubs, despite how much English programming he watches. You'd think he'd be used to it by now, but no. When they start throwing words around really fast, he gets lost very quickly!

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to watch it (and perhaps the whole season!) a second time, because I missed a lot (and my computer kept freezing/internet kept cutting out).

That line. I don't think I paid attention for up to five minutes afterwards! I was just pointing at the screen and floundering. ;)

And didn't we get rid of The Silence in '69? - So when I watched it the second time, I realized that I'd completely missed the line where they explain this. :P It's when Amy's taking the Doctor to see River the eyepatch woman that she kills? And she says something like "So why aren't people killing the Silence on sight anymore?" And the Doctor says, simply, "Different timeline, didn't happen" or something. :P So. Yeah. @__@

I am still so confused too, lol, though it did feel a little less WTF the second time around? ;)

And I really can't wait to see you~! <333 It's going to be so awesome. *___*

This makes SO MUCH more sense. Well. In a hand-wavey sort of way? I need to rewatch the whole season. :-/

Yay! Seeing! *Dances* <3

I have watched it twice - it does help a bit, well quite a lot really.

But missed the Jack line first time around and second time was 'did he just say Jack there??'
Glad you have confirmed that as had no time to watch again since then :)

A criticism of SM is that he likes to cram a lot in... er yeah! But, I liked the relative calmness of it, some resolutions happening, if you know what I mean; without major world ending events, or the Doctor dying for a while.

I'm not a great Jack fan any more, and sadly going off JB after nearly 20 years a fan. Surprised he didn't tweet his mention... just saying.

I do like the "everybody lives!" aspect of this episode, absolutely.

I was never much of a JB fan, but I'm sorry that he's lost you as a fan! Well, he's sorry he lost you as a fan. I'm sorry that you're...oh, forget it. I think you know what I'm getting at! I should take a nap, I think lol

LOL, I get it!
Funny thing is, I read some good fic and then I'm all back with loving the Captain all over again... what can you say, I'm way too easy :D

As for JB... all would have been fine had I not got into this and Twitter and YouTube which inadvertently got me back to TW cos I was following some JB links from some Comic Relief links. Ok yes, it's definitely sleep time!

I'm going to see him on tour in a couple of weeks. See what the verdict is then as I have mostly seen him in West End - not on his own...and post the travesty that was MD

Anyway, it was all to do with giving up smoking and looking for diversions, so I blame the fags... [pun intended?!]
And God, I wish I still smoked...
