Title: For You
Author:
sariagray
Characters/Pairings: Ianto/Lisa, Jack/Ianto
Word Count: ~325
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Exit Wounds is quasi-mentioned, and it hints at events to come in both Cyberwoman and COE.
Warning: Sad-ish. I don't know. Just...yep.
Disclaimer: I do not own Torchwood. I do not make money off of Torchwood. In fact, it seems as though Torchwood owns and makes money off of ME. This is for entertainment purposes only.
Author’s Note: I wrote some more yesterday. This came out of something that was going to be in As Soon Go Kindle Fire With Snow, but it didn't quite work out the way I wanted it to. So I did this little bitty thing to, you know, yeah. I guess. *Shrug*
“I’d die for you.”
“I know,” he says, and his voice is solemn despite the happy twinkle in his eye. “And I’d die for you, too.”
“Good,” Lisa grins and nuzzles at his cheek with her nose.
He laughs and pulls the duvet up around them. It is warm, even for July, but there is comfort in using the cover.
“Go to sleep,” he murmurs into her hair as he shifts his body closer. “Busy day tomorrow.”
“Don’t remind me,” she answers, sleepily. “’Night, Yan.”
He playfully smacks her arm. “What’d I tell you about that?”
“Hey,” she protests, more awake now. “If I’m willing to die for you, I get to call you whatever I like.”
“Fine. Good night, Buttercup,” he grins.
She laughs. “I walked right into that, didn’t I?”
“Yep.”
They say nothing more and fall asleep.
“I’d die for you.”
Ianto bites back the caustic chuckle that threatens to bubble over at the unspoken “and everyone else in the universe.”
“I know. You have,” he says instead.
There is a momentary silence as the words are weighed for what they are; an ounce of pyrite is worth much less than an ounce of gold. Still, it’s something he can grasp.
“I’d die for you, too,” he finally admits.
Jack stares at him for a moment and shakes his head, his eyes full of remorse and bitterness. “For Torchwood, you mean. After I’ve sent you to your death like a good General.”
“Stop blaming yourself. And no, not for Torchwood. For you.”
“Pointless. Don’t.”
He shifts his body alongside Jack’s and sighs. “Pointless, maybe, but I would.”
“I know. But promise me you won’t.”
“I can’t.”
Jack turns over and wraps an arm around Ianto’s waist, buries his face against the pale shoulder and simply breathes.
They hold each other like that for a moment before Ianto feels a chill and pulls the duvet up over them. It’s a little too cold for September.
The End.

Date: 2011-01-14 12:30 am (UTC)Thank you, hun. I think it's the combined stress/cold/feverishness. And that I sort of love angst a lot. I DID, however, write fluff yesterday that will be posted as soon as I exorcise the angst demons!
Sorry it's still so blah there. :-/

Date: 2011-01-14 01:27 am (UTC)It's bloody raining again today. I can't imagine how bad it is up north. It's wet enough down here and we aren't in danger of flooding, but really? Is it necessary to break the drought so completely? Talk about overdoing it!
My daughter made the most bone-headed comment yesterday, saying that if it rained anymore, we'd be able to swim to the US. I wasn't sure whether to fall on the ground in total hysterics or just look at her with my mouth hanging open. I opted for hysterics. When I could finally manage words, I asked her if she'd ever heard of a little body of water called the Pacific, covered half the world, started about 4km's down the street (technically that Bass Strait, but you can get to the Pacific from there through the Tasman Sea) and extended all the way to the US? She replied with her usual "Oh hush you, don't speak!" At that point, I couldn't really, I was choking.
I know she isn't blonde anymore, not even under the black hair dye, but she could give a few stereotypes a run for their money some days!

Date: 2011-01-13 06:17 pm (UTC)I feel like this is a common thread floating around lately, too. (Or maybe it's just that I just wrote about the same-ish thing, so it's on my mind? ^_~)
Very nicely done, though. <3

Date: 2011-01-14 12:40 am (UTC)Did you post your piece yet? Did I totally miss it?
I tend to listen to a lot of NIN and Tool in winter, and they have a lot of metal sounds, and then I think "Oooh, Cyber things!" Or at least, that's where I'm going with it. :)
