I'm aware what the rules are
But you know that I will run
You know that I will follow you
Over Silbury Hill
Through the solar field
You know that I will follow you

          “1000 Oceans” Tori Amos
Full song can be heard here.

Ties that Bind

     “Doc….Please.”
“Jack, you know perfectly well…” the Doctor began, then paused and looked into the man’s desperate eyes. He gave a dramatic sigh and relented. “Fine. Once. For ten minutes. That’s it.”

He knew exactly where to go; it was all he could do to keep from sprinting.
Choking back a sob at the welcome sight, he wrapped his arms around the living body from behind. The gesture was met with a gasp.
“Jack, you’re -.” The man turned in the embrace, only to be silenced by a finger pressed to his lips.
“I love you, too,” Jack whispered, blinking back tears. He rubbed his thumb across a prominent cheekbone before lips met with a tender urgency that shocked them both.
When he finally pulled away, Jack was surprised to feel soft, cool silk pressed insistently into his hand. Their eyes met; an eternity passed while mountains were carved beneath the persistent flow of one thousand oceans.

Ianto awoke the next morning in Jack’s cot, fully clothed and clutching at a pillow damp with tears. He thought he had dreamed the encounter before realizing with a start that the tie he had been wearing was nowhere to be found.

End

Oh, Jack. *hugs him tight*

I have a feeling Ten's going to regret this, because surely Jack's not going to stop with just one visit...

Ten tends to regret a lot of things when it comes to Jack! ;-)

I always (and by always I mean that past month or so since I saw CoE) thought that if RTD gives us just one moment like this, I would forever hold my peace. Fat chance of that happening, though, huh??

Thanks, as always! :)

Dammit, now the family thinks I'm nuts because I'm crying. Poor Ianto, smart enough to figure out from the timing of Jacks' visit that he doesn't get much older. Beautifully written.

Yes! *Hands you cookies* I was so worried that it wouldn't come across that he knew. *Nods emphatically*

And my family thinks I am insane, too. It's okay. :) We know we're PERFECTLY normal. (We are, right!?)

Thanks!

Well, yes *nods emphatically* I think I'm sane. Of course, I have been told by many people, on more than one occasion, that insane people are usually the last to figure it out. I continue to live in Egypt, swimming in my favourite river.

*paddles furiously for the shore*

Sad but sweet. Ianto understands and gives Jack a memento. It must be so hard for him knowing that he must not have much time left and knowing that he can't let Jack know.

Must find happy fic now...

I have always thought that Ianto would just...know. I admit that I was partially inspired by GDL's comic and it does add a lot to the scene when he and Jack are talking while Rhys cooks.

Sorry to make you sniffle! Off to happier fics! :)
